Dimensions of Work

Work Quality –
A Multidimensional Approach

This project’s central contribution is the development of a multidimensional framework encompassing not just the basic conditions but also further dimensions of work.

This means the model is particularly adaptable to unpaid work activities or deviations from ‘typical’ labour arrangements, as well as adaptable to political and economic changes. Capturing work quality of informal activities is, further, a prerequisite for international comparison with countries in which smaller fractions of the economy are formalised.

Dimensions of Work

Research shows that not just the surrounding conditions matter when evaluating whether people experience higher or lower quality of work. Here you can find information and illustrations on the diverse aspects that matter for work quality. We have further developed a tool based on this model which allows you to explore and reflect on your own work quality. This tool is suitable for both paid and unpaid activities – so you don’t have to be in employment to give it a try.
